Milford & District Resource Centre hosted a coffee morning to raise much needed funds for Ukraine on Monday the 7th of March. Over €1,600 was raised on the day, but with more donations continuing to come in the final total is expected to be higher. MDRC will be accepting donations to the appeal until the end of the week for anyone else who wishes to donate.
Like many others the team at MDRC have been watching the invasion of Ukraine unfold in horror and wanted to do something to help. Manager of Milford & District Resource Centre Declan Meehan said “We are delighted with the amount raised on Monday and we were very happy to see so many people come out to support the fundraiser. I think most people are feeling quite helpless, despite wanting to do something to help the people of Ukraine, and the coffee morning was a small outlet for people to do that. We are so grateful for everyone’s generosity.”
The donations will be going to the Irish Red Cross Ukrainian appeal. Red Cross teams are on the ground now in Ukraine and will continue their work to repair vital infrastructure, support health facilities, and help families with life-saving food and hygiene items. This is a rapidly evolving crisis and donations will help those affected get food, medicine, shelter and water.

Red Cross teams are also on the ground supporting refugees who have fled to other countries. The UN have announced this week that there are now 2 million Ukrainian refugees due to the ongoing invasion. The people of Ukraine will need support for a long time to come.
