- Luckily Spring was in the air on Saturday the 12th for The Big Spring Clean. The annual event took place this year across six areas in the Milford District; Milford, Cranford, Kerrykeel, Ramelton, Rathmullan and Ray. People of all ages and all walks of life came together in their high vis jackets to clean up litter around their local areas.
Milford & District Resource Centre (MDRC) coordinated the event in partnership with the local Tidy Towns committees and community centres, with Donegal County Council also kindly providing support to the initiative. MDRC Manager Declan Meehan said “This now annual community clean up event was a huge success. We’re very thankful to everyone who took part, and to Donegal County Council for supporting. It’s great to see the various local tidy towns committees and community centres cooperating and doing their bit to improve our local environment.”
Littering is unfortunately a big issue in Ireland, and events like this are important for raising awareness and for cleaning up rubbish which is harmful for wildlife and the environment.
