The Big Spring Clean Community Clean Up
- On March 10, 2021
Milford & District Resource Centre are organising a day of action on Saturday, March 13th to tidy up our streets, roads and hedgerows across the wider Milford district. The Big Spring Clean is an initiative aimed at getting people of all ages, across every area, involved in keeping our towns, villages and townlands clean and tidy.
“We’ve all noticed a significant rise in roadside litter over the past year, which is down to a number of factors associated with lockdown” said Declan Meehan, manager of MDRC. “Rather than organising a traditional community clean up we have had to be mindful of COVID restrictions and so we are asking people to go out with people from their own households and to stay within their 5km limit.”
The Big Spring Clean can take place anywhere – where is up to you as anyone can get involved. So far the initiative is being backed by the tidy towns of committees in Milford, Rathmullan and Kerrykeel, as well as community groups in Ray, Ramelton and Ballyare.
“It’s a great way for the community to come together by staying apart, while having a visible impact on our home areas, and the areas we love to visit” Meehan concluded.
