We are committed to fostering community engagement, empowerment, and social well-being through a range of programmes and activities that enrich the lives of our residents. Our work is aimed at combatting social isolation, disadvantage and inequality in the community. We are currently seeking a part-time Community Development Worker to join our team.
Position Overview
The Part-Time Community Development Worker at Milford & District Resource Centre will play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life within our community. This position requires a passionate and dedicated individual who will be responsible for organising activities, classes, and programmes that align with the identified needs and interests of our local community members.
Responsibilities
1. Community Needs Assessment: Conduct regular assessments and surveys within the local community to identify and understand the unique needs and interests of residents.
2. Programme Development: Develop and implement a variety of community programmes, activities, and classes based on the findings from new and existing community needs assessments.
3. Community Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, local organisations, and stakeholders to foster collaboration and support for community development initiatives.
4. Programme Coordination: Organise and coordinate events, workshops, classes, and other activities designed to meet the identified community needs.
5. Resource Mobilisation: Identify potential funding sources, grants, and donations to support community programmes and initiatives. Assist in grant writing and fundraising efforts.
6. Promotion and Outreach: Develop marketing and outreach strategies to raise awareness of community programmes and activities. Utilise social media, newsletters, and other communication channels to promote events.
7. Participant Support: Provide guidance, support, and resources to community members participating in programmes, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
8. Data Collection and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of programme attendance, feedback, and outcomes. Prepare regular reports for the Manager and funders.
9. Evaluation and Improvement: Continuously assess the effectiveness of programmes and activities and make recommendations for improvements based on feedback and data analysis, in partnership with the Manager.
10. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other staff members and volunteers to ensure the overall success of MDRC’s mission and objectives.
Essential Criteria
– No qualification is necessary to apply for this role.
– Previous experience in community development or related roles is preferred – voluntary or paid.
– Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management.
– Knowledge of local community resources and stakeholders is a plus.
– Flexible schedule to accommodate evening (regular) and weekend (rare) events as needed.
