Job Description
Job Title: Clerical Officer (Front Desk)
Location/base: Milford & District Resource Centre
Contract: 37.5 hours per week (one year fixed term)
Salary: €26,325 p.a.
Reporting to: Management Team of MDRC

About the role
Milford & District Resource Centre (MDRC) seek to hire a Clerical Officer to work on the Front Desk. We are seeking a friendly and professional individual who can contribute meaningfully to this community organisation. The Clerical Officer will provide high-quality administrative and clerical support to ensure the smooth and effective operation of the Front Desk. The job involves front-line reception duties, dealing with customers, data entry, record-keeping, graphic design, and general administrative tasks, often in a busy and dynamic community-based setting. The position is full-time (37.5 hours per week). Due to the nature of the work, remote working is not possible in this role.
Purpose of the job – including key tasks and areas of responsibility
Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Milford and District Resource Centre, the duties of the Clerical Officer will include, but will not be limited to:
- Managing the front desk of Milford & District Resource Centre, including staffing the phones, answering email queries and helping members of the public who call into the centre;
- Facilitating printing, photocopying, graphic design, scanning and internet access for members of the public using the resource centre;
- Managing room and facility bookings at the centre and for partner organisations in Milford and the wider district;
- Using and maintaining Excel databases to support local and national business clients’ administrative requirements, in full accordance with GDPR;
- Word processing, document formatting and printing of documents;
- Creating bespoke designs for clients of Milford & District Resource Centre, including the formatting and printing of booklets, brochures, banners, reports, posters, flyers, etc.;
- Other duties in support of the effective operation and development of Milford & District Resource Centre as requested by the Manager and/or the Board of Directors.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
- At least two years’ experience working in a similar administrative and clerical role;
- At least two year’s experience working in a customer-facing role;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programmes, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organisation and time-management skills
- A flexible approach to working on different projects, tasks and to different deadlines;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information; and
- Proficiency in a graphic design software programme, such as Canva.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in database management;
- Familiarity with GDPR and data protection procedures;
- Knowledge of social enterprises;
- Experience in managing bookings; and
- Competency in spoken and written Irish.
Conditions of Employment
The conditions of employment which apply to this post will be in accordance with the guidelines in issuance for the operation of the Community Service Programme (CSP). Please note that this position is subject to funding and that those guidelines may be subject to change.
Salary: €26,325 per annum.
Annual Leave: Annual leave entitlements are 20 days plus Christmas closure and public holidays.
Hours: 37.5 Hours per week
