Job Title: Assistant Manager (Part-Time)
Organisation: Milford & District Resource Centre (MDRC)
Location: Milford, Co. Donegal
Hours: 20 hours per week (fixed schedule, occasional evenings/weekends)
Reports to: Manager & Board of Directors
Contract: Fixed term (12 months, subject to funding)
Remuneration: €18,667 per annum
🔹 Overview
MDRC is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation committed to enhancing social inclusion and local development through community services, events, and social enterprise. The Assistant Manager will support the Manager in day-to-day operations, service delivery, team coordination, and project implementation — ensuring the MDRC and the Gallowglass Community Centre run efficiently and continue to serve as welcoming, inclusive spaces for the community.
🔹 Key Responsibilities
- Operational Support: Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of MDRC and associated facilities.
- Staff & Volunteer Coordination: Support scheduling, supervision, and communication with staff and volunteers.
- Programme & Event Support: Work with the Community Development Worker to plan and coordinate community events, workshops, and outreach programmes.
- Communications & Promotion: Liaise with the Communications Administrator to promote MDRC activities on social media, website, and traditional media.
- Administrative Tasks: Assist with bookings, volunteer and staff record-keeping, etc.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships with community members, local groups, partner organisations, and funders.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Track activities, maintain records, and prepare reports as required for internal use and external stakeholders.
- Policy Adherence: Ensure compliance with MDRC’s policies on health & safety, human relations, data protection, safeguarding, and equal opportunities.
🔹 Essential Requirements
- Experience in community development, administration, and social enterprise (paid or voluntary).
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work on your own initiative.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online tools (e.g., email, Google Drive, social media platforms).
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
- Commitment to the values of inclusion, equality, and local community empowerment.
🔹 Desirable Skills/Experience
- Relevant third-level qualification (e.g. Community Development, Business Administration).
- Experience working in a not-for-profit or voluntary/community organisation.
- Knowledge of funding schemes such as SICAP or programmes by the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht.
- Experience coordinating or assisting with community projects or funding applications.
- Access to own transport and full driving licence.
🔹 Working Conditions
- Part-time: 20 hours per week
- Fixed working hours (4 hours, 5 days per week), with some evening or weekend availability required
- Based in Milford, with occasional local and county-wide travel
